This course has portions of trail running and may not be entirely wheelchair, assisted wheelchair, or stroller friendly. There will be railroad tracks that you will be crossing. If you have a jogger stroller and are familiar running/walking with it, you should be fine.
Unfortunately, no furry friends of any kinds will be invited to run the race with participants.
THE COURSE – The Longest Day 10K gives racers a little bit of everything – city and trail running mixed with the beauty of the Pacific Northwest, including breath-taking views of the Bellingham waterfront as the solstice sun begins to set.
Starting at Fairhaven Village Green, you’ll head north – towards Mill Avenue – onto 10th Street trail in the direction of Taylor Dock. Stay on 10th Street until you reach Easton Road on our right. Take a right up Easton Road and then a flagger will direct you onto South State Street as you continue to the left. Once on North State Street, run until you reach the roundabout, where you will take a sharp left onto Wharf Street. Continue onto Cornwall Avenue until directed by a flagger to turn left onto West Laurel Street. Following route markers and flaggers, continue into Waypoint Park. This is roughly halfway through the race and a water station opportunity. From here, continue along West Laurel Street, taking a right onto Cornwall Avenue – following flagger directions.
On the return, at the top of Wharf Street, take a sharp right onto South Bay trail following it through Boulevard Park. Enjoy running or walking waterside through the park as the sun sets. Continue along the boardwalk. At the top of Taylor Dock, take a right to continue along 10th Street trail back to Fairhaven Village Green and across the finish line, where you will receive your race medal and enjoy grilled hot dogs!
